In a recent article in Preaching magazine written by Dean Register, he remembers his mentor and pastor Calvin Miller. Miller was a pastor and professor before his death in 2012.
In the article, Miller tells of an experience as a pastor when he grew a beard. A small, yet powerful group of deacons demanded he shave his beard or resign. Miller stood his ground graciously and told the antagonists he would not capitulate to their ultimatum to surrender his beard for fear that next they would ask for his head.
What wisdom!!!
